WelcomeAdam to the Vivarium team
Earlier this year, we were lucky enough to have Adam join our curatorial team. Bringing a wealth of herpetological experience from both his professional and personal life, he’s already been having a huge impact on the collection. So, if you see him out and about in the gallery during your visit, be sure to give him a wave and help us welcome him to Manchester Museum!
Hello, my name is Adam Trimmings, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the curatorial assistant of Herpetology at Manchester Museum. I have over 18 years professional experience within the zoological industry, ranging from world renowned zoos such as Chester, and educational college facilitates, teaching reptile and amphibian husbandry to aspiring young adults. In this time, I have built a wide range of skills and experience within reptile and amphibian conservation, and captive husbandry.
I have also been keeping and breeding reptiles and amphibians at home as a passion and hobby for nearly 2 decades. I particularly like re-creating natural living environments for my animals, using live plants and eco systems to best replicate their natural habitats. For me, this is like creating ‘living art’.
I am very much looking forward to getting the opportunity to work with new species, such as the critically endangered variable harlequin frog, which Manchester Museum has had so much success with over the years. With scope to redevelop the living collection due to a substantial grant, I am very excited to help take the living collection to an even higher level, enhancing the conservation and education work, alongside ensuring continued fantastic visitor experience and engagement.
