The Plural World of Migrants

FREE | BOOK ONLINE

KANARIS THEATRE

The Plural World of Migrants is a space for real stories, honest conversations and deeper understanding, in partnership with Readfirst Bookshop, a community bookshop for Hong Kong people.

This unique dialogue series brings together migrants from different generations, cultures and life paths to share their lived experiences. Moving beyond one-dimensional narratives, it reveals the richness, complexity, and diversity of migration through the voices of those who have lived it.

Across each session, you’ll hear personal journeys shaped by history, policy, identity and resilience. From the reasons people leave, to the realities they face, to how they redefine ‘home’, these conversations open a window into migration as a deeply human experience.

We’re running two sessions on Saturday 5 September, focused on the Hong Kong diaspora (in Cantonese), and on Saturday 3 October, a special edition focused on martial arts, body awareness and internal strength (in Cantonese).

What to expect (2-hour session):

  • Opening stories – hear powerful, first-hand accounts from 4–5 speakers of diverse backgrounds.

  • Small group dialogues – engage directly with speakers in intimate, informal conversations. Ask questions, listen closely, and connect.

  • Collective reflection – come together to share insights, uncover common threads, and reflect on different perspectives.
