LIVING WORLDS (PERFORMANCES AT 1PM AND 2.30PM)

Join Manchester Camerata for a magical, family-friendly performance featuring Julia Donaldson’s much-loved story Sharing a Shell.

This free performance is part of Camerata’s Here We Are festival, bringing live music to all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester and reinforcing their commitment to making world-class music accessible to all.

Presented by Manchester Camerata’s Principal Horn, Naomi Atherton, this special show will see their wind quintet bring the story to life, combining live performance, storytelling and imagination to create an engaging experience for audiences of all ages.

Set against the fascinating backdrop of our Living Worlds gallery, surrounded by incredible animal specimens and objects from the natural world, this performance is the perfect setting to immerse yourself in the story’s seaside adventure.

There will be family activities running throughout the afternoon too. You’ll have the chance to take a closer look at some of the fascinating shells from the Museum’s natural history collections through handling activities running 12-4pm in Living Worlds.

You’ll also be able to make rock pool puppets up on The Top Floor 12-4pm. This craft activity, suitable for children aged 5 and over, will allow you to create colourful sea creature stick puppets inspired by Sharing a Shell.
