Threaded Legacies - Black Heritage in Manchester Museum
Friday 23 October to Friday 30 October
RSPB, Friends of the Earth and Roundview pop-up stalls
Tuesday 27 October, 11am-1pm and 2-4pm.
Find out how you can take action for the good of our precious planet through a trio of hands-on, pop-up stalls from inspiring organisations. Discover the work of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and Friends of the Earth and find out how you can help nature and wildlife in your area. RoundView shows how we can create a world where people and nature can thrive. Try their jigsaws and explore ideas about sustainability.
Billie Bee Story Time, in partnership with Manchester City Council
Wednesday 28 October and Friday 30 October, 11.15am-12.15pm and 1-2pm. Book on the day.
Interactive storytelling inspired by the book Bille Bee and the secret glue that holds Manchester together. Hear the story brought to life, join us in the bee waggle dance, create your own moves and find out more about some of the beautiful bees within the collections the Museum cares for. These sessions are suitable for children aged 2-7 but older siblings are welcome to. Spaces are limited so sign-up on the day to make sure you don’t miss out.
Waste to Wonder
Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 October, 11am–1pm and 2–4pm.
Inspired by the Museum’s mission to build a more sustainable world, we’re giving you the opportunity to start literally building your own sustainable world. Unlock your creativity to transform recycled and unwanted materials into wonderful new creations. Share ideas, swap materials and discover how everyday waste can be turned into something special.
Eco-Makes with a Halloween twist, with Biffa
Friday 30 October, 11am-1pm and 2-4pm.
From spurned to spooky, join the Biffa team to turn waste into a whole host of creepy Halloween creations. Find out more about recycling, get top tips for reusing your household waste and get stuck into hands-on activities so you can develop your own decorations ideal for the scary season.
Black History Month storytelling, with CALFE

Our friends from the University of Manchester Child Study Centre will be joining us. They will have a stall with free stickers and an opportunity to sign up to their study database. If you have a child aged 0-10 and an interest in helping us understand how children develop, pop in and speak to them from Tuesday 27 to Thursday 29 October.
