KANARIS THEATRE AND SOUTH ASIA GALLERY

Celebrate the start of South Asian Heritage Month and the South Asia Gallery’s new installation, marking the contribution of nurses from across South Asia to nursing in the UK.

The installation, a partnership with the Royal College of Nursing, has been curated by nurses working in the North West. It shares the experience of thousands of nurses from South Asian countries who have come to work in the UK and support the NHS for decades.

You’ll be able to enjoy a tour of the gallery and hear directly from some of the nurses who have been involved in the curation of the new installation.

South Asian heritage nurses from across the North West have been working with artist Maya Chowdhry and Dr Rajesh Patel to produce exhibits for the gallery. They used creative workshops, zines, and memory work to explore themes including commitment to care for patients, status of overseas qualifications, problems with the career adaptation process and stereotyping.
