MAIN HALL

Join journalist and historian Taj Ali for a special author panel celebrating the launch of his book Come What May, We’re Here to Stay. This timely discussion explores the rich history of South Asian activism in Britain, from anti-colonial movements to ongoing struggles against racism.

Discussing some themes explored in Manchester Museum’s South Asia Gallery, the UK’s first permanent gallery dedicated to South Asian diaspora experiences, the event reflects on how these histories continue to shape identity, belonging, and resistance today.

Through conversation and audience engagement, the event will delve into the themes of the book, connecting past and present and asking what can be learned to build a more just future.
