Dive into a summer of creativity, discovery and hands-on fun with Bugtastic!

Each week explores a different artform, from animation and comic creation to printing, through family-friendly drop-in activities inspired by the fascinating world of bugs. Come along to explore, create and play as you discover the remarkable superpowers of these tiny creatures.

Sessions run weekdays from Tuesday 21 July to Friday 28 August, except Monday 27 July as the Museum will be closed.

These activities are recommended for children aged 5 and over, together with their parents or carers, but younger siblings are welcome too.

Tuesday 21 to Friday 24 July: Plasticine insects

Create a bug you love, or invent your own with amazing superpowers.

11am-1pm and 2-4pm on the Top Floor. Just drop in.

Tuesday 28 to Friday 31 July: Insect prints

Explore insect anatomy through a hands-on printing activity.

11am-1pm and 2-4pm on the Top Floor. Just drop in.

Monday 3 to Friday 7 August: Superbug comics

Design your very own comic story starring your superhero bug.

11-11.45am, 12-12.45pm, 2-2.45pm and 3-3.45pm in the Kanaris Theatre. Spaces limited, sign up for a space on the day.

Monday 10 to Friday 14 August: Paper plate bugs

Create fun and fantastical bugs using simple materials.

Monday 17 to Friday 21 August: Superbug animation

Bring your superhero bug to life in a brief introductory stop-frame animation workshop.

Monday 24 to Friday 28 August: Superbug papercraft costumes

Make insect-inspired costume pieces, from wings to antennae, and step into the world of superbugs.
