China: Journey to the East
25 September 2010 – 26 June 2011
China: Journey to the East was a touring exhibition from the British Museum, featuring over 100 objects spanning 3,000 years of Chinese history and culture and explored themes such as technology, belief, festivals, and food, and included modern objects from Wuhan, Manchester's sister city. On display was the world's earliest porcelain to shadow puppets and wei qi (Chinese Chess), picnics and coca cola to afterlife jam tarts and a pillow wishing everlasting peace.
It was the British Museum’s most popular UK touring exhibition up to that date, with over 450,000 visitors.
