The Inflatable Museum

The Inflatable Museum is an immersive learning environment designed to bring the wonder and curiosity of Manchester Museum to school halls across Greater Manchester.

How it works

The Inflatable Museum can accommodate a full school class and their accompanying adult helpers; approximately 36 people in total. We’ll arrive with you in the morning, ‘inflate’, and work with 1 or 2 classes (3 if you don’t need us to ‘deflate’ for your lunch service) per day, before deflating to go back home.

Where we can ‘pop up’

The Inflatable Museum has been designed to fit in the average school hall. We’ll need a space of approximately 9.5m x 11m x 5m high to safely set up in (allowing for fire escape routes), and a level access route from your car park (no kerbs or stairs) that is 1 metre wide. Due to the lightweight nature of the fabric used to construct it, the Inflatable can only be set up indoors. A full risk assessment and a safety checklist will be sent when you book.

What you can do with us

Children can assume the role of Egyptologists and Curators through our Ancient Egypt workshop, using object handling and team work to create their own Museum of Egyptology. Please sign up to our Primary e-newsletter to be the first to hear about any new Inflatable Museum offers.

Who we visit

We can visit schools within 30 minutes’ drive time from M13 9PL. This is usually Greater Manchester schools inside (or just outside) the M60 motorway. Please get in touch if you’re unsure.
