Museum Café

Sit back and relax. Enjoy a wide selection of freshly prepared food and drinks.

Museum Café is on the ground floor and can be accessed through our Main Hall or from Oxford Road.

The café serves freshly prepared and locally sourced food and drinks. From sandwiches, salads, and cakes to delicious warming soups and stews. You can sit and enjoy your food in the café or get it to go.

We’re working on a wonderful new menu that will launch later in 2023.

Opening times:

Monday 8am – 5pm
Tuesday 8am – 5pm
Wednesday 8am – 9pm
Thursday 8am – 5pm
Friday 8am – 5pm
Saturday 8am – 5pm
Sunday 9am – 5pm

We also have a picnic area and coffee bar in the Main Hall.

We encourage visitors to bring and use their own reusable cups and water bottles. There is a water refill station on the ground floor.

Did you know the museum is home to around two and a half million bugs? We don’t want anymore. Please enjoy food and drink in the picnic area, Museum Cafe and Main Hall only. Crumbs and spillages can attract creepy crawlies that ruin our objects. You’ll find lots of bins around the museum.

You can help us care for our collections and bring joy and inspiration to people in Manchester and beyond

As one of the UK’s largest university museums, we care for over 4.5 million objects, with an internationally-important collection spanning from Archaeology to Zoology, and nearly everything in between. We work with communities, support university students and schools in Manchester and beyond and we are a free, inclusive museum for all. But we need your help. Every object we care for, exhibition, school visit and community event comes at a cost, and you can help make the museum as ambitious and impactful as possible.
