Lates+ with Fingathing

Experience the museum after hours, with live performances, DJs, curator tours, workshops and more.

‘Lates’ extend the museum’s opening hours until 9pm every Wednesday, giving you the unique opportunity to experience the galleries after hours, and enjoy free and unmissable events.

For this special Late + event, the museum will come alive with performances, DJs, curator tours, workshops and more, focussing on the natural world.

Programme

18:00 – 21:00 – Open

The museum is open all the way through from 10am – 9pm every Wednesday, so come whenever you want. DJs from Reform Radio will be providing sounds from 6pm.

18:00 – 18:30 – Fantastic frog tour

An opportunity to join our resident frog experts for a tour of the Vivarium, where you will learn about our amazing animals, exciting research and vital conservation work being carried out at Manchester Museum. Book now

18:30 – 19:00 – Dinosaur Gallery tour

Join David Gelsthorpe, Curator of Earth Sciences, to find out how the Museum’s new Dinosaur Gallery was created. He will reveal the secrets of how to think like a palaeontologist, how April the Tenontosaurus was brought to life and surprising dinosaur stories. Book now

19:00 – 19:30 – Golden Mummies Tour

Join Egyptology Curator Dr Campbell Price for a highlights tour of the exhibition ‘Golden Mummies of Egypt’ and a discussion of gold, art, sex and death in Ancient Egypt. Book now

19:30 – 20:00 – Fingathing

Performance by Fingathing with exclusive first performance of ‘Frogspit’ – a song made using Costa Rican frog calls. This work is inspired by the Cucusonic- an album created by a collaborative collective of Colombian bio-scientists, anthropologists, and musicians – partnered with University of Manchester’s ‘Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology’ and charity In Place of War.
