Iftar at the Museum
An evening of friendship and conversation
Come and break the fast with us.
In the spirit of Ramadan, the month of hospitality and sharing, we are hosting an Iftar at the Museum that’s open to all. It will be an evening of friendship and conversation across faiths and cultures.
Learn about Ramadan and witness or participate in the Muslim call to prayer. We will also come together to break the fast, enjoying a selection of delicious food from MyLahore.
Iftar at the Museum is open to all. There will be dedicated spaces for prayer and breaking of the fast, including a relaxed, inclusive prayer space for young people (18-30) on the Museum’s Top Floor. Visit the Museum between 5.30pm and 8.30pm on 21 March to join the celebrations.
Although tickets are free, we’re inviting donations to our chosen charity, Myriad Foundation, an Islamic Community Outreach organisation who run food sharing projects in Manchester. You can choose whether you would like to make a donation when booking your ticket.

5.30pm Arrive at the Museum
6pm Speeches in Living Worlds gallery
6:15pm Adhan (call to prayer) and Maghrib Salah (sunset prayer)
6.25pm Breaking of fast
8.30pm Close
The event is supported by The University of Manchester Islamic Society, Taste Ramadan, My Lahore and The University of Manchester Office of Social Responsibility.
**We’re incredibly grateful that our annual Iftar is so popular and can’t wait to welcome as many of you as possible down to the Museum on 21 March. Unfortunately, the event’s popularity means we won’t don’t have the space to accommodate everyone who wants to come.
