University of Manchester Community Festival

The Community Festival returns Saturday, 8 June 2024 as part of Universally Manchester!

The University of Manchester is hosting Universally Manchester, a free festival to celebrate its bicentenary – taking over campus from Thursday, 6 June to Sunday, 9 June 2024. Festival goers will be able to curate their own varied programme, from behind-the-scenes tours to salon discussions, music, theatre, comedy, art, poetry, wellbeing and more, with something on offer for all ages and interests.

Saturday 8 June will provide family-friendly fun with the return of the ever-popular Community Festival – insightful performances, have-a-go activities and an engaging experience for all.

 

Manchester Museum Bloom Tent Takeover & Pop-Up Shop 10am – 1pm

In the Bloom Tent, Gilbert Square, University of Manchester

Get crafty and creative and join us for a morning of drop-in hands on family craft activities inspired by our blockbuster exhibitions and galleries; our Chinese Culture Gallery, our South Asia Gallery and Wild.  

 We’ll be celebrating the opening of our Wild exhibition, which will whisk you away to wild places across the globe to explore how people are creating, rebuilding and repairing connections with nature.  

 Join us for family craft activities including: 

  • Collaging your vision for a WILD Manchester 
  • Paper crafting birds and butterflies inspired by those on display in our South Asia Gallery 
  • Designing your very own paper vase, inspired by those on display in our Chinese Culture Gallery 
  • Hands on activities from Ardwick Climate Action 

 Free, families, drop in, recommended ages 7 plus together with parents/carers

Younger siblings welcome too

Our fabulous Manchester Museum Shop will be popping up also with a selection of WILD themed family friendly items for purchasing, from sustainable toys, beautiful books and ethically sourced gifts, we’re proud to support local makers.
