Wild

Exhibition designer open call

Manchester Museum has an outstanding opportunity to create a landmark exhibition and to work with us as we develop a more sustainable way of exhibition-making.

Wild, a new temporary exhibition due to open in June 2024, will explore what wild means to different people, and different ways that people are making places wild. It will also raise questions about what wild might mean or become in the future. This exhibition will prompt people to notice the wild around them and help them to think differently about the multitude of animals and plants amongst which they live.

By considering these varied relationships, we will support visitors to consider how wild may be protected, made, or reimagined in a hopeful future and how they may want to take or support action as a result.

We are looking to work with designers who will work collaboratively with us to establish a values-driven approach to sustainable exhibition practice.

You can help us care for our collections and bring joy and inspiration to people in Manchester and beyond

As one of the UK’s largest university museums, we care for over 4.5 million objects, with an internationally-important collection spanning from Archaeology to Zoology, and nearly everything in between. We work with communities, support university students and schools in Manchester and beyond and we are a free, inclusive museum for all. But we need your help. Every object we care for, exhibition, school visit and community event comes at a cost, and you can help make the museum as ambitious and impactful as possible.
