We've been working hard to create an enjoyable and safe visit.

Manchester Museum is a walk, bike ride or bus journey from Manchester city centre, close to the Whitworth and the University of Manchester campus of which we are proud to be a part.

Walk: 30min from Manchester city centre. Flat paved route.

Bike: Secure bicycle parking can be found close to the Museum, on Coupland Street, Oxford Road and in our courtyard.

Bus: 15, 41, 42, 43, 140 – 143, 147. Ask for bus stop nearest Manchester Museum, Oxford Road

*Tram: nearest stop - St Peter’s Square (plus 10 minutes on the bus or 20 minutes on foot) See GMT metrolink website for further details.

Train: Oxford Road (plus 5 minutes on the bus or 15 minutes on foot)

Parking: Higher Chatham St (UoM Car Park D)  Opening hours: 06am – midnight, 7 days per week.

Public parking tariffs (payable by cash, debit or credit card). £2.00 up to 1 hour. £7.00 up to 5 hours, £8.00 up to 6 hours, £9.00 up to 8hours. £15 all day. £4.50 evening 18:00 - 23:59*  

*Please note that if you stay after midnight then the £10 overnight charge will apply (except on saturdays)


Visitors with limited mobility can park on Bridgeford Street (limited spaces)
