Food and drink

Delicious food and drink is served everyday in the museum.

Museum Café

The café is on the ground floor and can be accessed through the Main Hall or from Oxford Road. It serves delicious vegetarian food and drink all day.

Prices range from XX – XX.

Pop-up coffee bar

There is a coffee bar in the Main Hall for vegetarian food and drinks.

Picnic area

The picnic area is on the ground floor next to the Main Hall. It is decorated to complement the Museum Café and includes microwaves, work surfaces and a sink for preparing food.  It is free to use and does not need to be booked in advance.

Water fountain

There is a water fountain in the Welcome space when you first enter the museum.

Outdoor seating

There are picnic benches on Bridgeford Street next to the museum if you would like to enjoy food and drinks outside. Please note that this area does not have cover.

Did you know the museum is home to around two and a half million bugs? We don’t want anymore.   Please enjoy food and drink in the Café, Main Hall and Picnic Area. Crumbs and spillages can attract creepy crawlies that ruin our objects.

You can help us care for our collections and bring joy and inspiration to people in Manchester and beyond

As one of the UK’s largest university museums, we care for over 4.5 million objects, with an internationally-important collection spanning from Archaeology to Zoology, and nearly everything in between. We work with communities, support university students and schools in Manchester and beyond and we are a free, inclusive museum for all. But we need your help. Every object we care for, exhibition, school visit and community event comes at a cost, and you can help make the museum as ambitious and impactful as possible.
