Baobab ‘Tree of Life’, with artist Tina Ekongo
Sunday 25 May, 10.30am-1pm; Tuesday 27, Wednesday 28, Thursday 29, Friday 30 May, 2-4pm
Get creative and help to bring our Baobab tree to life.
You’ll have the chance to re-create the leaves and fruits of Baobab trees on paper cards and decorate them with colourful colours and fabric patterns from around the continent. Add your contribution to our tree and watch it grow throughout the week.
Baobab trees grow in 32 African countries, and they symbolise resilience, life, and adaptability in African cultures. They can live up to 5,000 years, reaching up to 30 metres high and up to an enormous 50 metres in circumference. Baobab trees can provide shelter, food and water for animals and humans, which is why many savannah communities have made their homes near Baobab trees.
This free activity is ideal for children aged 5 or over but younger siblings are welcome too.
Afrocats is a Black and female-led charity, working closely with communities and people to create inspiring experiences and opportunities.
