Looking for Languages Trail

with Creative Manchester

Families are invited to collect an activity sheet and explore Manchester Museum’s enchanting collections while thinking about their own language(s) along the way. From exhibits featuring ancient languages to a look at the languages and cultures of today, the trail offers a unique language-themed perspective for visitors to enjoy.

There will be other activities to have a go at, like writing your name in hieroglyphs, learning about palindromes and roaring like a dinosaur.

Members of the Linguistic Diversity Collective will be at the trail welcome table to chat – whether it’s about the Collective itself or anything you’d like to ask or discuss about languages.

You can help us care for our collections and bring joy and inspiration to people in Manchester and beyond

As one of the UK’s largest university museums, we care for over 4.5 million objects, with an internationally-important collection spanning from Archaeology to Zoology, and nearly everything in between. We work with communities, support university students and schools in Manchester and beyond and we are a free, inclusive museum for all. But we need your help. Every object we care for, exhibition, school visit and community event comes at a cost, and you can help make the museum as ambitious and impactful as possible.
