Exhibition Hall

This major new space is dedicated to large-scale exhibitions and extraordinary projects.

Almost trebling existing capacity, the new Exhibition Hall (420 m2) will be the catalyst for transforming Manchester Museum’s ability to produce and host internationally-significant touring shows and experiences.

The Museum is well known for its distinctive exhibitions, which frequently draw upon cutting-edge research from The University of Manchester and beyond. Exhibitions will explore the richness of our world and our history in the past, present and future. You will see exhibitions that are visually spectacular, exploring different perspectives and challenging subjects. They will create new, powerful stories and engage with big ideas, global challenges and local action.

Golden Mummies of Egypt is developed and produced in partnership with Nomad Exhibitions

The opening exhibition will be 'Golden Mummies of Egypt', Manchester Museum's first international touring exhibition, featuring more than 100 objects from our important Egyptology collections. 'Golden Mummies' invites you to look critically at ancient and modern attitudes to funerary art in the multi-cultural Graeco-Roman Period of Egyptian history, and the colonial context of the objects' acquisition. After a successful run in the United States, the show returns to Manchester as the first in the new Exhibition Hall.
