Getting Here

Manchester Museum is a walk, bike ride or bus journey from Manchester city centre, close to the Whitworth and the University of Manchester campus of which we are proud to be a part.

We are located in an area that’s home to two universities – and the largest academic campus in the country - numerous cultural institutions, and four NHS hospitals.

The Museum is on a major bus route and easily reached via public transport, or on foot or bicycle:

Walk: 15-25min from Manchester city centre. Flat paved route, not traffic-free

Bike: Secure bicycle parking can be found close to the Museum, on Coupland Street.

Bus: 15, 41, 42, 43, 140 – 143, 147. Ask for bus stop nearest Manchester Museum, Oxford Road

*Tram: St Peter’s Square (plus 10 minutes on the bus or 20 minutes on foot) *Please note: the St Peter’s Square stop is now closed until late summer 2016 to allow work to construct a brand new expanded stop. See GMT metrolink website for further details.

Train: Oxford Road (plus 5 minutes on the bus or 10 minutes on foot)

Parking: Booth Street West (Car Park D - M15 6PB)  Monday-Friday, 6am-midnight: £3 for 3 hours. £5 for 6 hours. £2 after 4pm until midnight  Saturday and Sunday, 6am-midnight: £2 all day
