Nature’s Library

From corals to crickets and plants to platypuses, Nature’s Library explores why the Museum has such a big collection and how it continues to be used.

With objects instead of books, Nature’s Library takes you on a journey through the Museum’s natural history collection. Look out for objects from the famous Challenger expedition of 1872-6, extinct birds and butterflies, colourful shells and giant crystals.

You can discover how the collection is organised behind the scenes, and how experts continue to use it to answer questions about the natural world.
