Foundation stage (Nursery/Reception)

Dinosaur Explorers
Come and experience a close encounter with Stan, our T rex.

Animal Explorers
Turn into mini explorers and find out about the animals in the Museum. 

Year 2
For up to 30 children
120 minutes, £3.50 per child
(Minimum charge £50)

Discover Dinosaurs
Become a dinosaur detective and solve an ancient dinosaur murder mystery. A teacher's pack is available for this session.

KS2
'Discovery' sessions
For teachers wanting to develop an extended project linked to work back in the classroom. Teaching creatively is the aim of our 'Discovery' sessions. A range of activities excite children's imaginations and stimulate critical thinking and discovery.  Discussions, object handling, movement, drama and sketching are all used to develop enquiry skills and increase understanding.
For up to 30 children
Half day £3.50 per pupil (minimum charge £50)

Bones and Skeletons
Explore the ways in which the bones and skeletons of different animals help them to live, move and feed in different ways.

Rocks  Revealed
Discover the properties of rocks and how they form using games, drama and investigations.

Dinosaur Detectives
Become a dinosaur detective and solve an ancient dinosaur murder mystery.

'Gallery Explorer' sessions - morning or afternoon
For teachers who want a short, well-focused visit. These interactive sessions will take you through the Museum connecting topics such as history, wildlife and culture. Our Museum Explorer will take you on a journey, stopping at key points for relevant activities, including object investigation, drawing and handling. We encourage all classes to bring sketchbooks and digital cameras to get the most out of their `Explorer' visit.
For up to 60 children
90 minutes, £3.50 per pupil (minimum charge £50)


Animal Encounters
This new explorer programme aims to introduce Key Stage 2 pupils to the variety of life on earth, both past and present, and some of the Museum's live residents.
