Darwin Explorer Kits

Hire one of our exciting Darwin Explorer kits to explore Nature Discovery in depth.  The kits contains scientific equipment and activity plans that cover topics such as habitats, adaptation and food chains.  The activities also help pupils to understand the important explorer skills of scientific drawing and close observation.

Darwin Super Learning Days
A limited number of sessions for teachers wanting to bring large groups of students for a whole day.  The Super Learning Days give pupils the chance to explore Darwin's Big Ideas through object handling, tours and creative activities.

Key Stage 3 and 4
Diversity of Life - Suitable for KS3
Give your pupils the opportunity to explore the diversity of the animal kingdom by working with real museum specimens not normally seen by the public! 

Clippy Island - An Investigation into Natural Selection suitable for KS4 Students
Allow your students to experience first hand how adaptations created by natural variations within a species can enable a population to change over time.  This can be linked with a visit to our temporary exhibition 'Charles Darwin; evolution of a scientist'

Big Art, Big Ideas - Suitable for KS3 & KS4
Students will find out how big issues can be communicated through art and design, and create their own 'big art' in a graphic style. They will a variety of techniques based on observational drawing of museum objects.

Adapt! - Suitable for KS3 or KS4
Using new OOKL mobile phone technology, students will follow an interactive trail around the Museum to discover the features and variation that lead to adaptation.

Darwin and Humanity - A Level Study Day
What Darwin Didn't Know - A Level Study Day
Through a series of lectures, debates and activities, pupils will utilise Museum collections to understand how evidence can support theories and will come face-to-face with researchers from The University of Manchester.
