Early Years

Our regular programme of workshops might be off for now, but there’s still loads to see and do at Manchester Museum.

Self-led visit

A self-led visit means you can get creative and plan to meet your particular pupils’ learning needs. It’s free of charge, and we’ll be here every step of your planning process to make things easier, but it is essential that you book your self-led visit in advance so we can ensure your visit runs smoothly.

Please note that lunch and coat storage spaces are available until 13 July 2018. Please check our FAQs for the latest information on gallery openings and closures.

Ideas and Inspiration

Our Explorer Sacks provide stories, poems, looking tools, toys and puppets to help you explore the animals and dinosaurs in Manchester Museum with younger children. Please book in advance to reserve them for your group.

You can also visit Nature Discovery, our dedicated gallery for under 5’s

Our 'I Spy Nature' leaflet has loads of ideas and a pair of (tear off) binoculars for spotting animals around the Museum!

Need more help?

Elaine Bates our Early Years Coordinator is available to support your planning. You can contact her by email her or give her a call (0161 306 1777) if you have any questions about your visit. We are also happy to meet in the Museum if that's easier.
