Early Years

Our regular programme of museum workshops won’t be available during our exciting redevelopment, but there is still loads on offer.

hello future is a major project to develop and transform the museum to bring more wonder and inspiration from around the world to visitors. Stay in touch and sign up to our Early Years and Primary e-newsletter to be the first to find out what’s happening and to hear about opportunities for your class.

Self-led visit

A self-led visit means you can get creative and plan to meet your particular pupils’ learning needs. It’s free of charge, and we’ll be here every step of your planning process to make things easier. Lunch and coat storage spaces are available until 28 September 2018.

You can check our FAQs for the latest information on gallery openings and closures and the availability of lunch and coat storage.

Please remember to book your self-led visit in advance so we can ensure your visit runs smoothly.

Animal and Dinosaur Explorers

Our Natural History galleries, as well as our Vivarium and Fossils galleries will remain open throughout our redevelopment so you will be able to plan your own Animal and Dinosaur themed visits.

Our Explorer Sacks provide stories, poems, looking tools, toys and puppets to help you explore the animals and dinosaurs in Manchester Museum with younger children. Please book in advance to reserve them for your group.

You can also visit Nature Discovery, our dedicated gallery for under 5’s. Collect copies of our I Spy Nature leaflet for ideas and use the pair of (tear off) binoculars for spotting animals around the Museum!
