Alchemy enquire
The Manchester Museum is the lead museum in the North West Manchester cluster in a national project for engage called 'en-quire'.
The en-quire programme is managed by engage in association with Arts Council England. enquire is funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCFS) as part of the Strategic Commissioning Museums and Galleries Education Programme.
The Manchester Museum has recently secured funding for the continuation of the project until March 2009 and details of work for the academic year 2008/9 will be posted shortly.
The en-quire project began in September 2006 with the research question 'what is the role of museum-based arts education in supporting Key Stage 3 citizenship education?' Artists and Education in Salford and Creative Partnerships Manchester Salford worked in partnership with The Museum on this project, by sourcing artists and schools to work on the project, and by supporting Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
In September 2007 the project welcomed Bolton Museum, Art Gallery and Aquarium and The Harris Museum and Art Gallery into a creative partnership. Each venue delivered its own bespoke project working with local artists and schools.
